Counting Snack Time

Ages 2–4 ~10 min πŸ§‘β€πŸ€β€πŸ§‘ Supervised

What You'll Need

  • Small snacks β€” grapes, crackers, blueberries, or raisins work great
  • Small bowls or a muffin tin for sorting
  • A clean table or tray

Let's Do It!

  1. Spread a handful of snacks on a clean table or tray.
  2. Count them together out loud: "One, two, three… how many is that?"
  3. Sort the snacks into different bowls by type β€” grapes here, crackers there!
  4. Count each group: "How many grapes? Let's find out together."
  5. Make a simple pattern together: one cracker, one grape, one cracker, one grape…
  6. Celebrate with the best reward β€” eating the snacks!

πŸ’‘ Parent Tip

Let your toddler lead the counting β€” even if they skip a number or count the same one twice. Gently repeat the correct count and celebrate the effort. The repetition across many snack times is what makes the numbers stick!
