Shape Hunt

Ages 2โ€“4 ~10 min ๐Ÿ  No prep

What You'll Need

  • Just your eyes! Seriously โ€” nothing else needed.
  • Optional: paper and crayon to draw the shapes you find

Let's Do It!

  1. Pick a shape to look for โ€” circle is a perfect starting shape!
  2. Look around the room together: "Can you find something round?"
  3. Point to and name everything you find: "The clock is a circle! And the wheel!"
  4. Count all the shapes you spotted: "We found 5 circles โ€” wow!"
  5. Move on to the next shape โ€” try square, triangle, or rectangle.
  6. Challenge round: step outside and find shapes on buildings or in nature!

๐Ÿ’ก Parent Tip

Make it a race! "Who can find a square first?" works great for keeping toddlers engaged. You can also extend this into meals โ€” talk about the shape of their sandwich, their plate, or the crackers on their snack. Shapes are everywhere once you start looking!
